Abstract
The moment method for fitting sinusoids to an analog signal is shown to have a parallel application for sampled data and the same algorithm can be used, with minor change, for either. The autocorrelation sequence of the sampled data is converted to certain trigonometric moments on the unit circle in the z-plane which are then mapped onto the jω-axis in the s-plane. Impulses are fitted in the s-plane and their locations are subsequently mapped back onto the unit circle. The result of this procedure is found to be numerically identical to a previously reported constrained prediction error algorithm.
