Abstract
Recently, modified linear prediction (MLPC) was proposed as an alternative to conventional linear prediction. In MLPC the nth sample is predicted in terms of certain filtered signals. It is shown that this technique can be quite effective for accurate estimation of signal poles, provided that the signal energy is concentrated in a small portion of the frequency band. Performance comparable to other high accuracy techniques, such as the SVD, can be achieved with reduced computations.
