Abstract
The von Mises distribution is a convenient model for directional scenarios owing to its circular support, simple bell-shaped form, and smooth transition amongst many distributions. In this paper, we use the von Mises distribution as the angular power distribution to quantify the spacing for antennas to be uncorrelated. The results are well-defined and provide a stable and versatile framework for the design and configuration of spaced antennas in directional scenarios. Example solutions are given for a power correlation coefficient of 0.5 and a wide range of directionality expressed as the half-power beamwidth.
