Abstract :
In this paper a two-stage receiver called PRAKE-GA receiver which takes the advantages of the partial RAKE (PRAKE) receiver and genetic algorithm-based multiuser detector (GA-MUD) is proposed. In this new structure, the GA-MUD employs the output of the PRAKE receiver as its initial value to search for the best solution based on a formulated optimization mechanism. Simulation results indicate that the proposed receiver can effectively improve the performance of multiuser detection in the DS-CDMA UWB system over an extreme nonline-of-sight (NLOS) multipath channel.
