Abstract
A two degrees of freedom model has been constructed for a structural dynamic system consisting of a linear elastic plate bonded with piezoelectric sensors and actuators. An optimal multivariable feedback controller is designed. Two control procedures based on the minimization of the fitness function, the performance output error, and the quadratic performance index have been developed that use genetic algorithms-designed PD control and LQG control methods through the MATLAB environment. The results confirm that these two kinds of control methods are reliable in the active damping of the vibration at the resonance frequencies
