Abstract
The paper identify, separate and classify hybrid structures in process control applications. Hybrid structures can be found in control algorithms and architectures as well as in formal descriptions of the physical behaviour of processes. To model and analyze hybrid structures, several approaches of hybrid modeling methods are known. The use of these methods to verify industrial process control applications often fails due to complexity and variety of the focused control structures. To reduce the complexity, first a standardized structure of hybrid function blocks for process control is introduced, which can be used as a design pattern for all process control blocks. In addition to this microscopic view to process control structures, typical hybrid control nets and typical hybrid control strategies are analyzed
