Abstract
The invariant manifold method, developed in earlier work of the authors, makes it possible to design a slowly adapting controller based on the properties of the same control system with fixed parameters, determined from off-line experimentation. The designer can choose a suitable parameterization of a reduced order controller compatible with the range of expected plant parameter variations. This design procedure is illustrated by the example of an automotive control system.
