Abstract
Battery life optimization is the most important problem in the IEEE 802.16e (Mobile WiMAX). With the increasing number of mobile users in the world, there is a need for a better technology which optimizes battery life of mobile devices. This paper throws light on the battery life optimization of mobile devices. The paper brings out a new technology called "extended sleep model" that saves battery life of mobiles to a greater extent. This proposed technology has been tested under various scenarios and is expected to produce better results. An algorithm has also been proposed for implementation of this new technology.
