Abstract
This paper describes a new technique for calculating the displacement field in a motion sequence of two-dimensional imagery generated by a moving sensor. It proposes a scheme wherein a simple algorithm for calculating single displacement vectors is applied over numerous subimages to create a displacement field. This algorithm is an application of the MDT (motion detection transform) [15,16], thus is based on the 1D (one-dimensional) Fourier transform.
