  • Abstract
    The long-standing problem of inverting nonlinear input-output systems is solved by employing differential algebra. Simple characterizations of left and right invertibility are given. These rest upon an invariant integer which, for constant linear systems, turns out to be the rank of the transfer matrix. For control-linear systems, this integer is computed via a generalization of Silverman´s structure algorithm.
