Abstract :
By expressing correlation functions in power series of bandwidth, this paper first studies the structure of the covariance matrix of the broadband tapped delay line array. The elegant structure of the associated eigenvalues is then deduced, giving (number of taps)/2 sets of eigenvalues, the eigenvalues ith set being proportional to (bandwidth)2(i-1). The increase in eigenvalue spread of using tapped delay line processing in adaptive arrays is then derived.
