Abstract
The maximum entropy (MEM) beamformer is applied to data recorded by a fixed bottom mounted array in a shallow water area of high shipping density. Results are discussed to determine the model order for the approximating autoregressive (AR) process. The large number of targets and an insufficient stationarity in bearing leads to some doubt if an AR model is appropriate.
