  • Abstract
    Fingerprint image enhancement is one of the key steps in an automatic fingerprint identification system. In this paper we propose a fingerprint image enhancement algorithm that can deal with fingerprint images with signature. The algorithm is composed of three parts. First, signature is extracted with human-computer interaction and Principal Component Analysis method. Then the signature area is inpainted with partial-differential-equation-based method, which is based on an energy function minimization of fingerprint image. Finally the ridges or valleys are enhanced according to image characteristics. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method enhances the fingerprint image with signature significantly.
