Abstract :
The selective repeat type-II hybrid ARQ/FEC (automatic repeat request/forward error correction) scheme is studied using a rate-compatible punctured convolutional code to obtain further improvement on the performance of the throughout efficiency, the mean queue length of the packets waiting for transmission and the mean block delay over the conventional selective repeat type-II hybrid ARQ/FEC scheme using a rate 1/2 fixed convolutional code. The throughput efficiency of the system is theoretically shown to be higher than that of the conventional system. Computer simulation shows that the mean queue length and the mean block delay become much smaller than those of the conventional system under the severe channel condition and/or high traffic density
