Abstract :
The extreme performance of a cellular radio direct-sequence, slow frequency hopping code-division multiple-access system is examined. The forward link and the reverse link, modeled as flat Rayleigh fading channels, are discussed. In base-to-mobile transmission mode, all signals transmitted from a given base station fade in unison; but in mobile-to-base transmision mode, the waveforms from different users undergo independent fading. A three cell system and a seven cell system are considered in forward link and reverse link, respectively. We assume that all users employ noncoherent DPSK modulation and the waveforms are transmitted asynchronously, and independent first-order Markov random hopping patterns are employed. In addition, forward error-correcting coding is using for error-correction purposes
