Abstract
This Paper presents the function of Single Phase Matrix converter as a Dual Converter (Bi-directional speed control of DC drive), Rectifier and also as Inverter. Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique is used to generate control pulses for the Matrix Converter switches to produce output. The switching sequences for the Matrix Converter to operate as a Dual Converter, Rectifier and Inverter are presented and assessed using MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation results prove Single Phase Matrix Converter functionality as several power electronics converters by switching sequence via SPWM technique.
