Abstract :
With the increasing popularity of distributed systems, middleware has become a major building block for the development of distributed applications. In this paper, we firstly analyze in detail four traditional middleware systems called RPC middleware, message-oriented middleware, transaction-oriented middleware, and distributed object middleware. Subsequently, we present a detailed review of SOA, SOM and web services. Finally, we point out the future directions of research and conclude this paper.
