Abstract
Experience with the initial institution of the total-quality-commitment program at Boeing Military Airplanes is described. An effort is made to demonstrate how some unknown factors have affected the improvement process. It is noted that important lessons can be learned from incompletely successful endeavors. Criteria for determining a company´s readiness for total-quality management are assessed
