Abstract :
An automatic data analysis system has been developed for determining left ventricular (LV) mechanical and energetic characteristics. By using LV pressure and aortic flow signals during steady state and isovolumetric contractions, it was possible to calculate LV systolic indices and approximate the overall LV mechanical and energetic characteristics. The acquisition of pressure and flow data derived from accurate and reliable transducers and the simplicity of the proposed data analysis algorithm make this method for the determination of LV mechanical and energetic characteristics more favorable than the presently applied methodologies
