Abstract :
Physical, electrical and optical properties of La-modified Pb(Sc 1/2Nb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 (La-modified PSNT) binary ceramics near the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPB), prepared by the hot pressing (HP) method was investigated. The MPB follows on a linear line from the composition of La-modified PSN/PT 0/57.5/42.5 to 12.2/60.9/39.1 above RT. The Curie temperature of this system decreases from 250 to 25°C with increasing La content. By using the HP system and annealing after HP processing for 30 h under excess PbO of 10mol%, the number of pores in the ceramics decreased as 0.34% and mean grain size was also enhanced as to be around 4 μm. Curie temperature of La modified PSNT 5.88/58.9/41.1 was 130°C, and its dielectric constant, coupling factor k31 and optical transmittance (at 633nm) at RT were 6000, 0.48 and 40%, respectively
