Abstract :
In this paper, linear quadratic regulator based load frequency control for two area thermal system in deregulated electricity market has been proposed. Super conducting magnetic energy storage device (SMES) is incorporated in the model to observe the impact on the load-frequency control. SMES is controlled through LQR based controller. A comparative study has been provided for two area system with bilateral model without and with LQR-SMES controlled system.
