Abstract :
Power transfer capacity enhancement is a challenging task of present day electric power system operators. One of the modern and efficient methods is application of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices. The benefits of installing FACTS devices can be completely exploited only if they are placed at the suitable and necessary locations. In this paper, an equivalent impedance model based iterative algorithm for siting of STATCOM and SSSC has been demonstrated in a simple manner using 4-bus and 5-bus systems.
