Abstract :
This paper presents a ballast, for a high intensity discharge (HID) lamp with a single-ended resonant-type inverter circuit using the leakage inductance of a transformer. This ballast can supply high frequency power to a metal-halide lamp, one of the HID lamps without an acoustic resonance. The characteristics of the inverter are presented. The proposed ballast is suitable for the metal halide lamps. From the power measured by the Lissajous´ method, the efficiency of the ballast is calculated to be about 70%
