Abstract
The emerging eTextbooks have attracted a lot of research, but the functions of eTextbooks are still not clear for utilizing them in classroom. In this study, based on the findings from a three-round Delphi study, we explored the functions of eTextbooks in K-12 classes through a mixed-method design research of interview, questionnaire and lecture video coding in two primary schools. The results showed: (1) The eTextbooks should have the similar structure and layouts as paperback books to follow the students´ reading habits. (2) The interaction with students is more important than media rich contents. (3) Note-taking and working on assignments are key functions of eTextbooks to follow students´ study habits and to meet the requirement of instruction. (4) The relevant management tools are the key issues to keep eTextbooks in routine classes smoothly and sustainable.
