Abstract :
A graphical synthesis method is described for robust control of a class of plants with large but bounded parameter uncertainties. For the defined plant and parameter variations, the design procedure results in a variable-structure controller which can maintain the desired levels of system performances. The robust performance synthesis method presented is nonconservative. It also gives a sense of optimality in terms of the number of control settings. With fewer controllers, the complexity in both software and hardware implementations is reduced for the mentioned control scheme. This method is closely related to the basic control theory, so it should be more intuitive and familiar to practicing engineers
