Abstract
A previously described (1987) offset-quadrature-phase-shift-keying type of modulation format is developed further with reference to applications to land mobile radio and satellite communication systems. In particular, it is shown how the signal generation rules can be modified to compensate for the distortion introduced by a nonlinear power amplifier. This technique, which allows easy generation of a large variety of OQPSK-type signals with useful properties, is recommended especially for situations in which the need for a high spectral efficiency imposes a certain amount of envelope fluctuation
