Abstract :
Mechatronic transmissions are used to transfer mechanical power between the mechatronic components of a system. Often, the positions of the components are giving angles between axes that can be made difficult with conventional gears. The paper gives a method for designing the transmission based on helical gears because they provide domains for the angles between the axes which can´t be obtained with other gears. The geometrical dimensions of the transmission are determined, with addendum modification, based on the theory of equalization of the relative velocities. The relative velocities between the teeth flanks are equalized at the points where the differences are highest to increase the lifetime of the gears and improve the operating conditions. Then, to the equalized relative velocities, constraints are applied, and the minimum equalized value is searched using a genetic algorithm from the MATLAB computing environment.
