Abstract
This paper presents a linear analysis of the reverse feedback distributed oscillator, which is a wideband voltage controlled oscillator proposed by Skvor, et al. (1992) based on the distributed amplifier. The theoretical analysis presented in Skvor, et al. (1992) was generalized for a distributed oscillator employing m-derived artificial transmission lines. The resulting equations allow predicting the circuit oscillation frequency behavior and the corresponding required minimum transistor transconductances. A design example is described for a three-octave oscillator.
