  • Abstract
This paper presents several techniques in order to improve the trade-off linearity/efficiency in power amplifiers for WCDMA application. First of all, the study of a differential bipolar linearizer is addressed; second, the consumption control via switched biases and power cells. Simulations were carried out with a BiCMOS process and they show a 27 dBm linear power amplifier (PA) output power with a power added efficiency up to 35% and a 31 dBm maximum output power with a 45% power added efficiency (PAE).
