Abstract
The simultaneous use of microstructured optical fibers for dispersion compensation and Raman amplification is investigated. The impairments imposed due to the small mode area of the designed fiber are analyzed and compared to the standard dispersion compensating fibers (DCFs). The results suggest that microstructured fibers are promising candidates to the intended application.
