Abstract
The tune optimal slewing problem of flexible spacecraft is considered. The system is discretized by the assumed modes method, and the problem is solved for a linearized model in reduced state space by parameter optimization. Optimality is verified by the maximal principle. The linear solution is further used to obtain time optimal solutions for the non-linear problem.
