Abstract
The idea of a general protection adjustment is explored in a certain type of SSMA networks. It pertains to transmissions of signals of differing degree of protection, depending on the individual user status. Such protection includes coding, spreading and transmission power adaptivity. We consider both DS/SS and FH/SS systems operating in a slotted random-access mode, while the symbol transmission can be asynchronous. Performance analysis including throughput/utilization and average delay is presented. The analysis found in this paper constitutes a vector generalization of the one in [1].
