Abstract
A computationally efficient algorithm is presented for locating multiple sources on a two-dimensional grid. The total number of the sources as well as their intensities and locations on the two-dimensional grid are assumed unknown and the intensities of the sources are not necessarily identical. The distribution of the source intensity on the grid, which contains all the information about the sources, is obtained by solving a convex optimization problem. With the source distribution interpreted as a two-dimensional gray-level image, the sources are determined as the centroids of the objects in the image. Given the number of sources and the source locations, the source intensities are estimated by solving a linear least-squares problem.
