Title :
Early 1990´s deployment of fiber optics to the home
Abstract :
The study by Southern Bell Telephone Co. demonstrates that fiber-to-the-home is cost-effective where high-density growth patterns are foreseen. It supports fiber provisioning in upscale communities where significant multiline penetration is expected, as well as in multifamily locations. The author reviews the study, evaluates the study parameters and assumptions, and discusses the implications of the results for fiber-to-the-home deployment
