Abstract
A robust controller is designed for a wastewater treatment system. Owing to the periodic behavior of this process, a frequency-domain approach to robust control design is used. The robust controller is compared by means of simulation with conventional methods of controlling this process. Simulation results demonstrate that a robust controller can be made insensitive to model uncertainty and can provide better set-point tracking than conventional approaches to controlling the activated sludge process
