Abstract :
An optical customer access which extends channel functions in the digital loop carrier to the individual customer, through fiber cable, has been realized by replacing the channel unit with an optical line unit and by placing an ONT (optical network terminal) on the cutomer´s premises. The system provides sophisticated maintenance features fitted to the existing system. The ONT functions, the methods of feeding power to the ONT, and the system maintenance features are described in detail
