Abstract :
A regulator for critical systems, called the sup regulator, is presented. A critical system is such that the absolute output of the system must be limited to a prescribed bound and any violation of this bound leads to unacceptable operation. The sup regulator minimizes the supremum of the absolute value of the output for all time and all disturbances in a space D. The analysis, which is restricted to discrete-time single-input, single-output systems, yields the sup regulator. The results of simulation demonstrate the operation of the sup regulator
