    This paper summarises work being coordinated by NEMMCO (the National Electricity Market Management Company) to define the metering and retail settlement solution for full retail competition which is to be applied from January 2001 in Australia´s National Electricity Market (NEM). The paper provides an overview of the NEM and summarises the full retail competition review conducted by NEMMCO´s Metering and Retail Settlement Steering Committee
