Abstract
The author describes how Swedish electric utility, Sollentuna Energi, decided to build a two-way communication system to all of their 23,800 customers. The system requirements were: monthly automatic meter reading; automatic billing; one hour values before 6 a.m. every day from all customers; installation in eight months; and low-voltage grid real-time monitoring. Terminal units are used for the reading of electricity and district heating meters
