Abstract :
Midlands Electricity (MEB) is one of the UK´s leading public electricity suppliers (PESs) principally concerned with electricity distribution and supply to over 2.2 million customers in 13000 sq.km. in the heart of England. MEB also sells gas to industrial, commercial and domestic customers and has subsidiaries which manage its diverse generation assets and provide electrical contracting services. De-regulation has provoked two substantial activities for the PESs: (a) re-structuring the PESs activities into discrete business units; and (b) developing systems to meet the requirements of a competitive de-regulated market. This paper details MEBs creation of an effective new metering business-Metering Services Ltd
