Abstract :
This paper presents a novel PI controller for a permanent magnet DC motor thyristor drive. The controller employs the speed error phase portrait concept and online zonal gain adjustment based on the length of the excursion. The proposed controller is found to be robust and can tolerate system/load dynamic model uncertainties and parametric variations
