Abstract
The design of low-cost, low-reflection receptacles for active devices, especially for a DFB (distributed feedback) TO-packaged laser diode, is described. The main test results have shown that it is possible to achieve a coupling efficiency as high as 25 to 30% and a coupling repeatability with maximum variations of 7% around the mean value. Oblique polishing of the fiber end face is found to reduce the back reflection efficiently. These connectorized laser diodes have a stable behavior for a large temperature range
