Abstract
Several papers have appeared in the literature that describe the theory of operation of different control schemes with which to force a single, voltage-source inverter to behave as a dynamically-controllable, transmission line series compensator. This paper focuses on one such scheme proposed in the literature and presents a simple, linearised model with which to design the controllable compensator for dynamic performance. Practical results from a laboratory prototype of the controllable compensator are presented to demonstrate the dynamic performance of this particular scheme that can be obtained in practice
