  • Abstract
The development of Product-Service System (PSS) is an innovation process in which the designers have to identify appropriate strategies that generate novel product-service solutions to satisfy the requirements of different customers. Current research and practices of PSS design, however, fall short in having a systematic method to help designers develop innovative PSS scenarios. This paper proposes a TRIZ-based method to facilitate innovative concept generation for PSS development. The problem solving process of TRIZ is applied together with the use of Contradiction Matrix and Innovative Principles. The original TRIZ principles are examined and reinterpreted to suit the characteristics of PSS innovation. A case study on washing service is presented to demonstrate how the method can effectively identify feasible service scenarios for PSS innovation.
