Abstract
Laboratory-scale batch experiments were conducted for investigating the adsorption of bisphenol A (BPA) at mg/L range onto activated sludge liquid. In batch adsorption experiments, all the adsorption isotherms obtained were found to fit the fifth species in five common types of adsorption isotherms at 25°C. The adsorption reached equilibrium quickly within 30mins, the maximum amount adsorbed was 1.29 mg (BPA)/g (mixed liquor suspended solid, MLSS) at pH 5 and decreased slightly at pH 5 to 7.5. The average amount adsorbed onto the sludge liquid was 2.1 mg (BPA)/g (MLSS) that was more than onto the centrifugal sludge which was only 0.07mg/g.Amount adsorbed onto sludge liquid was declined with the increasing of MLSS and the maximum amount adsorbed was 6.9 mg (BPA)/g (MLSS) when the MLSS was 3702mg/L.
