Abstract
This research aims at investigating the feasibility of a high frequency link converter (HFLC) as a series compensator in an AC transmission line system (ACTLS). The basic approach in this research is analysis and the development of detailed computer simulation of the HFLC series compensator and the corresponding control systems for simulated performance evaluation. In the process of the simulation study, the potential problem areas are identified, component requirements are determined for the successful implementation of the HFLC concept, and useful technical evaluations of the HFLC series compensator are performed
