Abstract
In this paper, we outline our research on automation using the ZigBee technology and the internet to control devices. Home automation has been chosen as a way to demonstrate the usage of the system and can be easily expanded to cover industrial equipments through the network in a wireless fashion. ZigBee allows multi-hops in network transmission and enables seamless communication between the server nodes connected to the internet and the clients. The clients are setup to be of different types of devices including multi value objects where continuous data input is also possible. A user friendly secure Web server is built to host the interface to the internet.
