  • Abstract
    This paper described several airplane applications of optical wireless technology, and the challenges for applications of the technology in commercial airplane environment. Paper also presented some experimental results on two different types of wireless optical links, the WLED optical links and visible laser optical links. Very high quality audio wireless optical links up to 4 meters, error free high speed digital optical links from 125 Mb/s to 400 Mb/s, is achieved with these experiments. These results are significant for demonstrating the feasibility of applying practical wireless optical links in airplane platforms.
