Abstract :
This work considers the essential requirements for outdoor mobile robot navigation in the context of converting existing, commercially available, outdoor vehicles to provide the platform for such endeavours. Two particular conversions are presented as examples to illustrate the approach being championed and a number of practical details to achieve this end presented as a guide to others who may be interested in pursuing this area of research with limited financial resources
