Abstract
Distributed control algorithms for channel assignment are discussed, assuming circuit-switched operation of the stations in the system. Three modes of communication among the stations are considered: pairwise communications, permutations (each of the N stations transmits data to one station and receives data from one station without conflict), and broadcasts. Two different cases for each of these modes are considered: one in which every receiving station knows the address of the source station from which it has to receive data and another in which the receiving stations have no prior knowledge of the address of their source stations. The techniques used in and the number of time steps required by the algorithms for the six different cases are summarized.<>
